Description de produit
MFDC Double-Head Spot Welding Machine for Barrel Hoop Lock Clips — Precision Dual-Point Welding That Secures Every Seal
Product Overview

A barrel hoop does one job — it holds the drum tight. But the lock clip is the part that makes that job possible. It's the latch mechanism that tightens and locks the hoop in place, and it's under constant mechanical stress every time the barrel is opened, closed, and transported. If either weld joint on the lock clip fails, the hoop loosens, the seal breaks, and the contents leak.

That's why the lock clip isn't just another weld — it's the most critical joint on the entire barrel hoop. And that's exactly why Hwashi built this machine: a purpose-designed, double-head medium-frequency DC spot welding machine that welds both sides of the lock clip simultaneously, with identical force, identical current, and identical timing. Two welds. One cycle. Zero asymmetry.

This isn't a general-purpose spot welder with a custom fixture bolted on. It's engineered from the ground up for barrel hoop lock clip production — from the dual welding head configuration that mirrors the lock clip's symmetrical geometry, to the MFDC power supply that handles plated and coated steels without burning through, to the pneumatic clamping system that holds the curved hoop surface rock-steady during welding.

What Makes This Machine Different
Two Heads, One Purpose: Symmetrical Weld Quality

Lock clips have two attachment points on the hoop — one on each side of the latch mechanism. On a single-head welder, you weld one side, reposition, then weld the other. The second weld is never identical to the first: the part has shifted, the electrode has heated up, the hoop surface condition has changed. This machine eliminates that problem entirely. Both welding heads fire simultaneously with independently controlled but perfectly synchronized current and pressure. The result: two welds with identical nugget size, identical penetration, and identical pull strength — every single time.

MFDC Power: The Right Technology for Coated Hoops

Barrel hoops are typically made from galvanized steel or other coated strips — the coating protects against corrosion but creates nightmares for conventional AC welders. Zinc vaporizes under excessive heat, causing spatter, weak joints, and unsightly burn marks. Hwashi's medium-frequency inverter DC (MFDC) technology solves this. The rapid current rise time and short welding duration concentrate heat into the nugget zone before the zinc coating can vaporize. The result: strong, clean welds with minimal spatter and no coating damage outside the weld zone. And 30%+ energy savings compared to conventional AC.

Handles the Curve: Fixturing for Cylindrical Surfaces

Welding a flat clip onto a curved barrel hoop isn't the same as welding two flat sheets. The contact area is a narrow band, and any misalignment means the electrode only partially contacts the workpiece — resulting in inconsistent welds or electrode damage. This machine's fixture system is designed specifically for the curvature of standard barrel hoops. Custom-shaped electrodes ensure full, even contact between electrode, clip, and hoop surface regardless of hoop diameter. No shimming. No trial-and-error setup.

Fast Cycle, High Output

Simultaneous dual-point welding means one cycle produces two finished weld joints. With cycle times as low as 3-5 seconds per hoop (including loading and unloading), a single operator can process hundreds of hoops per shift. The pneumatic clamping and electrode actuation system is fast, repeatable, and requires no manual adjustment between parts.

Programmable for Multiple Hoop Specifications

Barrel hoops come in different diameters, strip thicknesses, and lock clip designs. This machine stores up to 101 welding programs, each with its own current, time, and pressure settings. Switch from 55-gallon drum hoops to smaller pail hoops in minutes — select the program, adjust the fixture, and you're running. No recalibration, no test welds.
